The Nature Conservancy: Arkansas Prescribed Fire

The Nature Conservancy Arkansas Prescribed Fire Crew was established in 1989 with the vision of returning fire to the fire maintained ecosystems of Arkansas. TNC fire program has restored fire on over 80,000 acres in the 20 years of operation. The Arkansas fire season lasts from September to May and has the goal of 50-70 burns a year with ~10,000 acres of fire restoration.

Byers Burn Response (10-21-08)

These pictures were taken in June 2009 of a Blackland site that was burned in October 2008. The response that burning/cedar removal can restore a very divese plant community.
